Challenges of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities

It was really encouraging to hear from the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Driton Selmanaj that the Government of Kosovo is interested in addressing the challenges of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in the best possible way.

We talked about the Poznan Declaration on how important it is to implement in order to improve the living conditions of these communities living in Kosovo.

I also raised the issue of the challenges faced by Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians in the field of unemployment. Especially in the public sector and the opportunity to create a mechanism that would ensure the implementation of the Law on Public Servants, for the benefit of these communities.

Finally, a very important part of this meeting was the discussion about "anti-gypsyism". What are the effects that this phenomenon has on the current situation, directly affecting the well-being of communities and the need to start addressing it institutionally.

I look forward to putting these we discussed into practice as soon as possible.
