Regional Cooperation for Roma Inclusion – Strengthening Ties Across the Western Balkans

From 19–21 June 2025, Pristina became the meeting point for Roma and pro-Roma civil society organizations from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, and North Macedonia, who gathered to exchange experiences, strategies, and aspirations for a more inclusive region.
Hosted by Voice of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians (VoRAE) and the Director Mr. Isak Skenderi the regional visit provided a platform for partners to share good practices, reflect on persistent challenges, and identify joint avenues for advocacy and program development.
💬 Discussions focused on effective models for the employment of young individuals—especially women, as well as initiatives that ensure better access to education and contribute to the overcoming of antigypsyist practices at institutional and societal levels.
🏘️ As part of the program, we proudly presented our Settlement Transformation Model—a holistic and community-driven approach to inclusive housing and desegregation—as an innovative and scalable good practice for Roma inclusion.
👥 Special thanks to our dedicated partners:
Roma Active Albania and Mr. Adriatik Hasantari
Roma Forum Srbija and Mr. Dejan Markovic
Otaharin from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr. Dragan Jokovic
Regional Roma Educational Youth Association from North Macedonia and Ms. Urmeta Arifovska.
The visit concluded with the signing of a joint commitment for continued cross-border cooperation, reaffirming our shared determination to build a just, inclusive, and equitable future for Roma communities in the Western Balkans.
