Resource Center for Students from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian Communities

In a solemn ceremony, the Resource Center for Students from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian Communities was officially inaugurated today. This innovative space is dedicated to providing academic and social support to students. The center offers a wide range of services and resources, including a library, computers, printers, workspaces, and a relaxation area. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (with possible extension until 6:00 PM), the center aims to create an inspiring and supportive environment for academic and social development while fostering a sense of community belonging.

As part of this event, the second phase of the “Supplementary Support for Academic Studies for Students from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian Communities” program was launched. This program aims to provide academic assistance to students from these communities to increase their participation in higher education, improve attendance, performance, representation, and graduation rates.

The event was honored by the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mrs. Emilija Redžepi; the Minister of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mrs. Arbërie Nagavci; Mrs. Beate Elsaesser from the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo; MPs; donors; representatives of higher education institutions; and students. In their remarks, the attendees emphasized the importance of this initiative in creating equal opportunities and enhancing students' access to education and professional development.

During the event, cooperation agreements were signed with 100 student beneficiaries of the program, reinforcing the commitment to supporting their academic journey.

The “Supplementary Support for Academic Studies for Students from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian Communities” program and the Resource Center are funded by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo and HEKS from Switzerland. This joint effort represents a significant step toward promoting equal opportunities and fostering the academic and professional development of students from these communities.
